Rules governing winter swimming world records
The following rules govern how winter swimming world records are registered.
1. Pool
1.1 The pool length must be 25 metres (+- 5 centimetres).
1.2 Once measured, an approval form (registering the official length of the pool) must be signed either by:
- the chief judge
- members of the tech committee
Further, the form must be approved by an IWSA board member.
1.3 The body of water on which the pool is built must be on open water.
2. Record registration
2.1 Records are registered in all age groups and all timed distances.
2.2 Timing format for worlds records: mm:ss.ms (minutes, seconds, milliseconds).
2.3 Records are registered only for events governed by IWSA rules and standards.
